2016 Community Outreach Recipient – Wilton Student Financial Aid Committee

On Friday, Nov. 11, the Arthur J. Wall Jr. Memorial Scholarship Fund presented a $5,000 check to the Wilton Student Financial Aid Committee (WSFAC) and announced that the non-profit was chosen as their 2016 Community Outreach Recipient.  Each year, the fund–started by the Wall family in memory of their patriarch, Arthur, who was very involved in supporting several civic organizations in Wilton–presents a portion of the proceeds from its annual Art Wall Golf Outing to a local 501 (c)(3) organization that provides services for the Wilton community and surrounding area.

“The board of the Art Wall Scholarship Fund feels WSFAC provides an outstanding service to students living in Wilton who need assistance in achieving post-secondary education. WSFAC provides assistance to any student who lives in Wilton regardless of what high school they graduated from. By supporting WSFAC the Art Wall Scholarship Fund can help more students achieve their goals,” says Kevin Wall, vice chairman of the fund and Art’s son.

WSFAC board member Chris Perry says the board is thrilled to have the support of the Art Wall Scholarship Fund. “This donation will go to great use by assisting Wilton students in need as they head off to college. The Art Wall Golf Outing has established a legacy of doing great things for Wilton in so many ways and we are proud to be part of that legacy.”

Past recipients of the annual $5,000 gift have been Trackside Teen Center, Wilton Police Gift Fund, Wilton Youth Council and Wilton Volunteer Ambulance Corps.

In addition to the yearly donation made to civic organizations, the Fund has also given scholarships to Wilton High School graduating seniors stretching back to its start in 1999. In fact, the Art Wall Scholarship Fund has  awarded over $120,000 to graduating male and female student athletes at Wilton High School who have displayed a dedication to academics and athletics as well as strong community service values and desire to help others less fortunate.
